Englewood

Englewood
has a long and noteworthy history, with its roots extending back to early Dutch farmers and English colonists. Once referred to as the "Queen City of the Palisades". It was known as "The Bedroom of Wall Street" during the first several decades of the last century.

Englewood, at the dawn of the 21st century, was a city of cosmopolitan diversity and sophistication blended with an historic grace and charm - unique among its surrounding communities. Its housing stock reflects a plethora of styles and influences - the varies economic circumstances and individual tastes of both the original and current owners clearly visible. The East Hill is known for its many grand estates and gracious Victorians.

Englewood is 4.9 square miles in area and, according to census in 2004, has a population of 26,353. At its heart is a bustling central business district boasting a rich mixture of restaurants, cafés, national retailers, one-of-a-kind shops, boutiques and art galleries.

Englewood is a sophisticated city that combines much of its historic grace and charm with an exciting cosmopolitan atmosphere. It has many contrasts between elaborate Victorian mansions and modern low rise condominiums, between tree-lined residential neighborhoods and a bustling central business district, between large estates and affordable apartments. Its proximity to New York is a significant feature since Englewood is only five minutes to the George Washington Bridge.
